Collaborative Divorce Coaching
A Collaborative Divorce Coach is an  important team member to the clients who
choose this non-adversarial divorce approach. They are effective during this
difficult transition by keeping clients focused and goal directed. Divorce Coaches
teach problem-solving, communication, anger management skills, and conflict
resolution skills. They help to normalize  emotions during divorce,  assist family
members in understanding and redefining roles within the new family structure,
and encourage planning for the future.
Family Restructuring Workshops
Mental health professionals are trained to assist families in the redefining of roles following a
major change in the structure of a family. Some of these changes include divorce, separation,
the blending of two families, and remarriage. The approach is solution focused and family
members can attend workshops with a counselor in their private office.  The focus of the
restructuring is to help children step forward feeling less stressed by the transition and to
address any questions about their  new roles together. Individual family members can
participate in the educational session or the family as a unit.
Parent Coordination
A Parent Coordinator is a supportive divorce specialist assisting parents during
this difficult time of transition. Mental health professionals trained as mediators
assist parents in developing parenting plans during separation or divorce. With
the help of the Parent Coordinator, parents negotiate everything from discipline,
to sharing time, to setting up two homes for the children.  Plans are agreed upon
and put in place by both parents. Parents may revisit Coastal Counseling
Associates for help in modifying parenting plans at any time. Please click on the

Counseling for Children of Divorce
Counseling can be an important intervention
with children who are experiencing divorce.
Frequently children blame themselves and can
experience a full range of emotions such as
rejection, fear,anger and confusion.
Counselors are trained in family systems and
behavioral approaches unique to children
experiencing this  major transition. They
provide  support to children while fostering
communication with both parents.
Counseling for Adult Children of Divorce
A parents' divorce can have an impact on a child
that can last into adulthood.  Issues such as
intimacy, the way to resolve conflict, trust,
commitment, and how to teach children about
relationships can be effected. If you feel that your
parents' divorce has had a negative impact on you
in your own relationships, consider this
opportunity to address concerns in a private
confidential session.
