At times family life can become stressful. Sometimes major events can happen within the family system.  Difficult  
experiences like divorce, death of a loved one, relocation, and job loss/change present challenges that can shake the
stability of family life.  There are also positive events such as a marriage, the birth or adoption of a child, the blending
of families or a child leaving for college that can become overwhelming transitions for a family to make. These issues
or events can destabilize the family system and send the it into crisis. Counselors can help families explore their
relationships and address issues in a non- threatening way.   
The therapists at Coastal Counseling can work with the family members to restore balance and stability
while focusing on each individual as well as the family as a whole.  Family therapy assists the family with the
support needed for all members to adjust and cope with a full range of life experiences.  Therapists educate
the family on new ways to identify and manage feelings.  They can also share ways to help reduce stress and
anxiety during times of transition.  The process is solution focused, family centered, and very effective.
